Los pollitos dicen
Español
Los pollitos dicen pío, pío, pío, cuando tienen hambre, cuando tienen frío. La gallina busca el maíz y el trigo. Les da la comida y les presta abrigo.
English
The little chicks say pío, pío, pío, when they're hungry, when they're cold. The mother hen looks for the corn and wheat. She brings them food and keeps them warm.
Twelve screen-free ideas. Materials already in your house.
Build a fort
Two chairs, a sheet, three pillows. The fort is the activity AND the location of the next activity.
Ages 2+Sock-pile sort
Dump the clean laundry on the floor. Match pairs together. Yes, this counts as childcare.
Ages 3+Kitchen color hunt
Find five red things, four yellow, three green. Lining them up on the table is half the fun.
Ages 2+Rainstick from rice
A paper-towel tube + tape + a half-cup of rice. Tilt slowly. Listen.
Ages 3+Ice-cube paint
Freeze water + food coloring in an ice tray with toothpicks for handles. Paint on construction paper.
Ages 4+5-minute drawing relay
Set a timer for 5 min. Each person draws for 1 minute, then passes the page. The story emerges.
Ages 5+Letter scavenger hunt
Pick a letter. Find ten things in the house that start with it. The letter S is hard mode.
Ages 4+Phone-photo studio
Hand them your phone (with parental controls). Theme: things that are taller than you. Look at the results.
Ages 4+Cardboard kitchen
Save one Amazon box. Cut a stove-top with a marker. Disposable cups become pots. Two-day life span.
Ages 3+Story dice
Three sticky notes per person — write a noun, verb, and place. Mix them up. Tell the story.
Ages 5+Spy mission
Tape a string maze across the hallway. Crawl under without touching. Bonus: in slow-motion.
Ages 5+Salt-tray writing
A baking sheet, a half-cup of salt, a finger. Practice letters or numbers — erases with a shake.
Ages 3+Want to see your child do this every day?
Our teachers bring this same energy to the classroom every single day. Come see it for yourself.
